Muscillo Tennis Academy (MUSTA), founded by internationally renowned Head Coach AJ Muscillo, is at the forefront of the game when it comes to player development.

The essence of our philosophy is to create and ensure a positive, friendly and challenging environment for all students. Through this we are able to educate our players with our world-class expertise and provide players with a rare knowledge and structured program that gives them the confidence to believe in themselves, understand their own game and to play with a purpose. Our philosophy has been developed from dissecting the game at the elite international level, then designing regressions and progressions in all our programs to suit the beginner player, aspiring pro or the social adult who wishes to get fit whilst still improving their game. Our team is constantly researching the game and keeping our knowledge up-to-date to ensure a successful pathway for all participants involved.

With all our coaches being involved and having a contribution to the weekly lesson planning, lessons are tailored specificially to where each group/player is at in their development. This creates a challenging but successful experience for players, week in – week out and sees players of all ages and standards improving immensely.

MUSTA caters for all players – We offer programs for Hot Shot junior groups from 3-16 years of age, numerous squad levels for the beginner looking to enter club competition, the tournament competitiors and also the high performance international players. We also have social adult cardio tennis, adult group lessons, private lessons for rapid development and organised matchplay ladders.

MUSTA also prides itself on conducting regular coach education, allowing for all coaches to have a similar and extensive philosophy that ensures every player who participates in the Academy gets the best possible experience. MUSTA is also unique in the industry in that it pioneered the presence of an extra roaming coach during Hot Shot group classes* to enhance further individual attention and player development.

AJ has been involved in coaching for almost 20 years but has a rich knowledge of the game well beyond his years. He has coached in over 10 different countries and has been lucky enough to work alongside coaches such as Nick Bollettieri, Ivan Lendl, Patrick Mouratoglou and Peter McCraw.

AJ has also worked with Tennis Australia and Tennis Victoria for many years and has built a great rapport with them.

In 2015, AJ was rewarded the prestigious Newcombe Medal Award for Australian Hot Shots Coach of the Year and was Australian Club Coach of the Year Runner Up. In 2016, AJ is a current finalist for Victorian Hot Shots Coach of the Year and Best Victorian Club Coach of the Year. In 2014, AJ was also rewarded with the TCA Victorian Coach of the Year Award.

AJ’s greatest pride comes in developing players from beginners that establish international rankings under his guidance and on top of this becoming a lifelong friend with these players.

He has had the opportunity to work with many professional tour players and top 50 ITF juniors and played extensively on the satellite tour himself. AJ still plays on the ITF Seniors Tour for 35+ players and is currently ranked #1 in Australia and #4 in the World, and has been lucky enough to represent Australia in the World Team Championships.

AJ spends an extensive amount of time dissecting the modern game to ensure his knowledge is up-to-date and world class and also works closely with his assistant coaches on and off the court to ensure everyone’s knowledge is current and the same philosophy and progressions are taught across the board.

AJ endeavours to keep Muscillo Tennis Academy at the forefront of the game, providing every player that comes through the program with confidence, a broad range of skills and knowledge, and a clear understanding of what it takes to become a professional player or to get the best out of your game
